Asilia Salt – Naturally Harvested, Deeply Flavourful Sea Salt

Sustainably Sourced, Mineral-Rich Sea Salt with a Pinch of East Africa

Emberton Fayre is proud to supply Asilia’s premium sea salts, hand-harvested from the pristine waters of the Indian Ocean. Using traditional, sustainable methods, Asilia’s process is simple yet deeply rooted in nature—allowing the sun and wind to slowly evaporate seawater over weeks, leaving behind pure, mineral-rich sea salt.

This careful process ensures that Asilia sea salt retains its natural flavour and essential nutrients, delivering an intensely pure taste unlike mass-produced alternatives. Whether in its pure form or blended with organic Tanzanian spices, Asilia’s range of sea salts enhances every dish with bold, balanced seasoning.

From pan to plate, Asilia’s mission is clear—for goodness, for earth, for people, with a pinch of East Africa.

Farming Sea Salt: Pan-to-Plate

A common response to the taste of Asilia sea salt is: ‘How did you make it so salty?’. Well, this is what salt should taste like. It takes just over one month from start to finish to make a single salt crystal. Thankfully, mother nature does most of the hard work.

It all begins at the pristine, mineral-rich waters of the Indian Ocean. Asila collect sea water at the highest of tides along a tidal creek. It is gravity fed through a mosaic of pans to remove any unwanted elements, like Gypsum, through evaporation by the sun and the wind. This will eventually create very salty sea water called brine.

When there is the right concentration of saltiness, the brine is transferred into evaporation pans for the final stage of the process. With the final bit of evaporation by Mother Nature, salt begins to form and fall to the bottom of the pan. Once enough salt has formed, the Asila salt farmers hand-harvest the salt and leave it out to dry for a day or two.

Once dry, the salt is taken to their little factory to be sorted, cleaned, and packaged ready for your table. Simple as that! It’s a long process that requires passion and patience by a team who cares.
